Stronghold warlords release time9/2/2023 Almost feels like a Knock-Off Stronghold game. Sometimes so often in some missions that it's a test of patience and seeing if you can manage the amount of trash-tier meatshield spam you need and doing the actual objective. They just sit there as you wittle away at them and nonsensically spam armies that spawn in at the sides of the map at you. Of which the singleplayer missions are also rife with literally non-functional AI that just gets waves of units spawned in at the map edge and cant even be bothered to maintain an economy or repair their crumbling destroyed castle. The new "Warlord" thing is also a gimmick and largely an inconsequential nothing outside of handicapping player resources or otherwise locking the Win-Trigger in singleplayer behind controlling all of the Warlords. It also runs shockingly poorly for something that looks like it was unironically made in 2006. Unlike the previous entries of the Stronghold series, which were focused Europe during the Middle Ages, Stronghold: Warlords is set in East Asia, with campaigns based on historical events of China, Vietnam, and Japan. I suppose you can say it's playable unlike some previous Stronghold games that seemingly never left the Alpha Phase of development, I guess? But at the same time it seems prone to crashing without even giving an error popup. Stronghold: Warlords is a real-time strategy game released in March 9, 2021, developed and published by Firefly Studios. I can't even think of something it does well now that I'm trying to. it's just THAT sort of Thoroughly mediocre or just bad in all aspects. Acquiring these castles will get their populace to ally with the player and bring their "unique archetype and abilities" to the table.Thoroughly mediocre or just bad in all aspects. During combat, one player could coordinate defence while the other triggers castle traps and puts out fires.Īdditionally, there will be a new mechanic where small AI-run castles will be scattered across the map and players can take them over by either conquest or diplomacy. If one prefers handling the economy while the other builds an army, they can do so. Alternatively, the castle will still be stuck with meek walls by the time someone invades with trebuchets.įirefly pointed out that this approach could even let players pick which part of running a castle they prefer and then stick to it. We will instead be launching Stronghold: Warlords six weeks later on March 9th 2021. Technically, players could have co-op against AI in custom matches earlier in the series as well but Stronghold: Warlords will let two players control a single castle which should take the communication to the next level. The release date will no longer be January 26th 2021. Furthermore, there will be co-op besides the regular multiplayer. The release date is on September 29, 2020, but that's not all of the news the team revealed recently.Īll platforms will get the game simultaneously and PC will get the game on Steam on the same date so there are no exclusivity periods in sight. Stronghold: Warlords is the upcoming game in the castle-building strategy series and it seems like the developers, Firefly Studios, have some special things in store for the franchise's fans.
